Ramshorn Snails are freshwater snails admired for their coiled, spiral-shaped shells that resemble a ram’s horn. They are popular in aquariums for their ability to clean algae, uneaten food, and detritus, contributing to a healthier tank environment.
Care:
Ramshorn snails are low-maintenance and adaptable to various water conditions, thriving in temperatures between 65-82°F (18-28°C) and a pH of 7.0-8.0. They prefer planted tanks but can also live in unplanted aquariums. Regular water changes help prevent overpopulation, as they reproduce quickly under favorable conditions.
Lifespan:
With proper care, Ramshorn snails typically live for 1 to 3 years. Their longevity can be affected by water quality and food availability.
Size:
These snails usually grow to about 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter, though some species can grow slightly larger in optimal conditions.
Ramshorn snails are peaceful, making them a great addition to community tanks. However, they may nibble on soft or decaying plants if food is scarce.
